He was way out of line of course, but I must admit the two last tracks (Sweet Sounds and Rollin' Stone) are also by far, to my ears at least, the best sounding ones on the album. The production: well, one Swedish critic who liked the performance and the songs gave it two stars largely based on his distaste of the production, which he found to be too glossy. Apart from this one track (which may grow on me) Hackney Diamonds redeems this latter day problem in high measure. I do struggle a bit with Driving Me Too Hard, it just has that "good but not really going anywhere" thing to it that too much latter day Stones has had. I will say that it most certainly belong in the better half of Stones albums, and very possibly higher than that too. All the way through at loud volume and in short I think it's great, but I don't know just how great. I've just finished listening to my black vinyl Hackney Diamonds.
